Prolotherapy provides relief from chronic pain.
With Prolotherapy, natural substances such as dextrose and phenol are injected to provoke mild inflammation, which in turn stimulates the healing cascade and regeneration of new connective tissue.
Prolotherapy, the oldest and most common form of proliferative therapy has been used since the 1930’s. It has been endorsed by former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop who was personally cured of chronic, disabling back pain using the technique, and subsequently began administering it to his own patients. With Prolotherapy, natural substances such as dextrose and phenol are injected to provoke mild inflammation, which in turn stimulates the healing cascade and regeneration of new connective tissue.
Prolozone™ Therapyis a modification of Prolotherapy pioneered by Dr. Frank Shallenberger . This method uses ozone, a naturally occurring form of oxygen with powerful regenerative capacity. Prolozone works by increasing circulation and oxygen to the damaged areas. In addition to strengthening ligaments and tendon, Prolozone may assist in rebuilding cartilage.
Plasma Rich Platelet Injection (PRP) Therapyuses the body’s own platelets for injection. A small amount of blood is drawn and centrifuged to separate out the plasma. The high concentration of platelets in the plasma is rich in bioactive proteins and growth factors that can accelerate tissue repair and regeneration. PRP is rapidly gaining popularity among professional athletes.
DO YOU HAVE CHRONIC PAIN THAT JUST WON’T GO AWAY?
Maybe a previously injured area still hurts or remains weak, even after a long period. In some cases there’s been no specific injury and you don’t know exactly what caused the problem. You may have tried rest, physical therapy, or manipulations. You may have even had cortisone injections that only gave temporary relief, or surgery that failed to completely resolve the problem. Proliferative therapies, including Prolotherapy, Prolozone™, and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy are a group of little known but highly effective treatments that can permanently relieve chronic pain and restore function when damaged connective tissue causes or contributes to the problem.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: You must first be evaluated by an experienced physician to determine if you are a candidate for proliferative therapy. If so, statistics indicate that over 80% of all patients achieve good to excellent. Many experience complete relief, even in severe or long-standing conditions. As with any medical treatment, results vary and depend on your current health status and lifestyle factors. On average 4-10 sessions are required with Prolotherapy, fewer with PRP. More may be needed for difficult problems, or if the patient continues to overuse the affected area. Treatments should be generally performed every 2-4 weeks with Prolotherapy, more frequently with Prolozone, and less frequently with PRP.
